Idaho state flag

Also known as the Gem State or the Potato State, Idaho is located in the northwestern region of the United States. The capital of the state is Boise, which also happens to be the largest metropolitan area. The state motto is “Esto perpetua” that roughly translates to “It is forever”.

Some of the state symbols of Idaho are the Mountain Bluebird, the White Pine tree, the Syringa flower and the Huckleberry fruit. How did Idaho start out to be the state that it is today? In 1803, Idaho was acquired by the United States as part of the Louisiana Purchase. It was only on July 3, 1890 that Idaho officially became a state.
