The International Day against Nuclear Tests is observed on August 29 each year. It was established on December 2, 2009 by the United Nations General Assembly and first observed in 2010. Since nuclear weapons testing began in 1945, over 2000 nuclear tests have been carried out.

The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the dangers of nuclear weapons testing, or any other nuclear explosions, and the need to achieve the goal of a nuclear weapons free world.

During the day organizations hold educational events and activities to bring the world's attention to the aims and message of the day and highlight the need to prevent further nuclear weapons testing.
