Mystery at Ghost Mine - Episode 4

The story so far

The Ace Detectives

The detectives have discovered that in 1865 during the American Civil War, miners from the Ballarat goldfields in Victoria, Australia, sailed with the Confederate ship "Shenandoah" to join the Southern army.

Some of the Ballarat men may have been criminals, taking with them stolen Aboriginal bones and artifacts, and a gold nugget. There was money to be made in America from Aboriginal relics and the nugget could be melted down.

Megan, Brad, Linda and Ben have flown to the US to check out an old skull and other artifacts that were hidden by Jeremiah MacKenzie, and found by his great granddaughter Laura, Meg's cousin. Laura is worried that Jeremiah may have been a thief, or even worse, a grave robber.

Road through Mojave DesertBrad had a great time driving them across the Mojave Desert to Barstow, and then to MacKenzie Wells to Laura and Aunt Jean's house.

But is trouble following them? Megs was almost run down by a car before they left Australia, and Bud and Elmore from the MacKenzie Wells petrol station were hostile when asked for directions to Aunt Jean's house on Main Street. Linda narrowly escaped being eaten by guard dog Ralph while looking for the restroom, and was saved by Brad's skill in "dog whispering."

Ralph the guard dogNow, after paying Elmore for petrol, Brad makes a quick exit, away from the strange brothers and their feral dog. Main Street is up ahead and they are keen to see Laura and Aunt Jean after their long journey from Melbourne.
